A Gorsedd Circle is located in the south west of the park. It was associated with the 1897 National Eistedfodd of Wales, the proclamation ceremony for which was held in Belle Vue Park on the 27th August 1896.[1]
The Parks Committee agreed in September 1897 that the Gorsedd stones be allowed to remain in the park, and that it be left to the Superintendent to plant ivy or another creeper around them.[2] In September 1898 the Committee agreed that Oak trees supplied by the Newport Eistedfodd Committee be planted around the stones.[3][4]
